Nepenthes
In a passage from Homer's Odyssey, Helena puts into the wine a drug called nepenthes against crying and anger, which made to forget all the ills. Nepenthes literally means ‘no regret’ (from ne = ‘no’, and penthos = ‘pain’, ‘regret’). Some believe that the substance was the Indica cultivar of hemp.
The “Nepenthes” project shows the craft process of some guys who grow hemp (Cannabis sativa), a crop that is returning after its ban due to its classification as a drug. Traditionally, in the Iberian Peninsula, it was used only for its fiber, to manufacture of ropes, paper and fabrics, but now it has new uses due to the medicinal compounds contained in the flower. Hemp has been selected to produce less psychotropic compounds, such as tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and more medicinal ones, such as cannabidiol (CBD). This makes the difference with "marihuana" (whose cultivation is not legal on a large scale), despite being the same species.
